In areas of western Terai in Nepal yearly floods destroy homes and assets, destroying people’s livelihoods and savings.
Practical Action has been working in the area to enhance the flood resilience of these communities, by strengthening livelihood activities so they are less vulnerable to flood losses.
This video details the livelihood training delivered on and off-farm that allows people to diversify their incomes.
Solutions including raising houses and grain storage, growing flood resilient crops (like mushrooms) and pursuing non-agriculture livelihoods like furniture making, snack making and tailoring.
