Mainstreaming Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction into District Level Development Plans
The Training Manual is a product of a collaborative project between the Indian National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), ISET-International, and Gorakhpur Environmental Action Group (GEAG). The goals of the project were to: a) support development of a climate sensitive District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP) for Gorakhpur, India; and b) based on the experience, to develop a training approach for use in districts nationally. The training manual is targeted at trainers working with district stakeholders. It provides guidance and a course framework for designing and delivering training programmes for understanding, analyzing, designing and mainstreaming climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk reduction (DRR) concerns into district level development planning. Completion of a successful training will equip stakeholders with the knowledge and skills for assessing and delineating strategies and delivering their roles in relation to risk mitigation, prevention and implementation of effective response to extreme events.
