National Position Paper for the AMCDRR 2016: Disaster Risk Reduction in Nepal: Achievements, Challenges and Ways Forward
The PDNA also recommended that the post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction “has to be a multi-pronged effort with a strong orientation toward the poorest and the most vulnerable” with support from the private sector, NGOs, and international development partners. Now that the country is in the verge of state restructuring as per the new constitution and in the final moment of formulating 14th periodic development plan with a thrust of shifting DRR attention from post-disaster relief to preparedness and mitigation, the AMCDRR gives us an opportunity to turn back and reflect upon what we accomplished, where we are strong and what needs to be improved.
