Mangroves have tremendous potential to protect lives and property from flooding, as shown in Sri Lanka during the 2004 tsunami. However, decades of war and deforestation have left large barren patches in Sri Lanka's green coastal belt. This video documents a project by Seacology and local NGO Sudeesa to restore Sri Lanka's mangroves. They place women at the heart of this project, running training events and supporting local businesses, to bring people together to build their flood resilience.
